Harbormasters: Dedicated and Seaworthy by Eleanor C. Parsons with Rosemary Lesch and Scott Story

The logbooks of the co-harbormasters in Rockport, Massachusetts have provided detailed accounts of their daily experiences during the ten years since their appointment. Their aim is to bring to the attention of both boaters and non-boaters the challenges that harbormasters face in their efforts to safeguard their coastal areas. The increasing need for homeland security and developments in electronics have brought the work of harbormasters into a new age and have greatly expanded their range of duties. While working closely with the United States Coast Guard and all law enforcement agencies, it is their hope to combine and include all harbormasters in pertinent emergency training.
